Slots of Fun Amusement Arcade Blackpool

Slots of fun is an amusement arcade located on the Blackpool promenade, close to Blackpool's Central Pier on the golden mile. It benefits from heavy footfall not only being on the promenade but also because there are many popular hotels and bar/restaurants nearby. The arcade venue also benefits from being directly opposite a pedestrian crossing which diverts visitors from the beach side of the promenade directly to the Slots of Fun area.

Arcade Entrance

There are food kiosks on either side of the Slots of Fun Arcade entrance. To the northside is a luxury ice cream kiosk serving a huge range of ice cream flavours to passers-by. This also opens into the amusement arcade offering even more sweet treats including pick & mix, fudge, nougat and other seaside staples. 

The south side food kiosk is a fast-food takeaway called ‘Primeburger’. This offers quality burgers and hot dogs to passers-by and gives off a delicious flame-grilled smell to people walking past.

There is a wide entrance to the main arcade and at the entrance is a boxing punch machine to entice passers-by to test their strength. 

Coin Pushers

Coin pushers occupy the central area of the arcade, and they have some unique and interesting pushers here. Patrons can find the classic circular Big Ben coin pusher and also a large twelve-player rectangular coin pusher called Supersonic.  They also have a ‘Push It Real Good’ circular coin pusher that no doubt plays the 80’s hit of the same name. 

Lastly, there is a very interesting and unique circular coin flipper (pusher) called Tutti Frutti, which is similar in design (and likely a precursor) to the popular Ice Cream coin pusher. Though the difference here is that it is a circular coin flipper, being similar to Cromptons Carousel, yet in a smaller cabinet with upper shelfs and individual pushers that push onto the main shelf. 

One thing to note is that none of the coin pushers pay out ticket wins though there is a ticket redemption system in this arcade, just does not include the coin pushers. The prize shop can be found at the very rear of the arcade behind the adult slots area. 

Crane Claw Machines

Slots of Fun has a nice range of claw machines, and these include the classic Maxx Grabb machines, Key Master and Cosmic Crane. These grabber machines are filled with great prizes including Steven the Seagull, Spiderman / Deadpool Bobbleheads and Sonic the Hedgehog characters. 

Classic Arcade Games 

Fans of classic games will enjoy the Crazy Typhoon, where players insert a coin into a typhoon that lands onto a spinning platform for players to try and win big ticket prizes for timing it right. There is also a row of three original Block Stacker games, where players can test their timing skill to see if they can stack the blocks to the very top to win a prize.

Fairground Arcade Games

There are some Sonic Allstars basketball arcade games here, where players can play against friends and try to beat high scores to win tickets. 

Slots of Fun also caters to younger children as it has a row of fairground games for smaller players. Here there is an Ice Age Ice Breaker machine, which is a two-player whack-a-mole style game with tabletop display. To the rear of the amusements arcade is a Sideshow, which is a fairground style shooting game for up-to three players. The idea is that players use the rifles to shoot at moving targets (including duckies in a row) to obtain high scores and ticket prizes. 

A unique and interesting machine, which is a classic fair ground game, packaged in a circular coin pusher style cabinet is the large blue and yellow ‘Hook-a-Duck’ machine. Here the aim is to use the magnetic fishing rod to hook a duck from the rotating pond below and then drop it into the prize basket. This is an all or nothing game with winners receiving a winning ball, which can then be redeemed for a fresh five pound note. 

Ticket Slot Machines

Upon our visit we noted that they have three standalone ticket slot machines in the main arcade, and these were Aladdin, Puffing Billy and Pieces of Eight. 

£5 Jackpot Fruit Machines

The £5 jackpot fruit machines are located within the adult casino slots area. These Cat D machines include an original Star Wars – Empire Strikes Back fruit machine, Sub Zero, Monopoly, Deal or No Deal and many more classic standalone machines. They also have a Party Time triple from Astra Gaming. There is also a Skill Ball Zingy 2 machine just outside of the slot machine area and this offers the standard jackpot of £50. 

Venue Verdict

While the Slots of Fun Arcade is one of the smaller arcades in Blackpool it is located in a prime position, which means it gets a large amount of passing footfall, making it popular with tourists. They have a unique and interesting range of arcade machines that will certainly pique the interest of enthusiasts and regular players alike. Certainly worth exploring whilst in the area.
