Clacton-on-Sea is the largest seaside tourist destination in the county Essex (excluding Southend). It is easily accessible from Colchester, just 40 minutes away by train or A roads. The town is nestled between Jaywick and Holland-on-Sea, and is close to Frinton and Walton, making it a prime spot for recreation and destination tourism. Clacton attracts many day trippers from London via Chelmsford, offering a fun coastal getaway for weekends and holidays. There are many caravans and holiday cabins in the wider area, with the tourist epicentre having a range of hotels to suit all budgets. The pier is the focal point, accessible via Pier Avenue and the upper promenade, where the best Clacton arcades are located. The upper cliffs offer parks, gardens, a golf course, and various dining options, ranging from beachside kiosks to upscale restaurants and pubs. Clacton’s town centre is close to the beach, allowing visitors to easily stroll through the pedestrianised area from the station down Pier Avenue. This main tourist hub boasts bars, including a popular Wetherspoons (Moon & Starfish), as well as a variety of entertainment venues and arcades near the beach. Visitors can enjoy both upper and lower promenades, adding to the scenic experience.

All the Clacton arcades are located at the beach end of Pier Ave, and these include some fantastic venues such as the Magic City Arcade, which not only offers a kids arcade, but also a huge casino gaming lounge and snooker / pool rooms on the first floor. Opposite is the Gaiety Amusements Arcade, which is a large arcade that has plenty of the latest ticket arcade games for the whole family to enjoy and next door is the Gameshow Arcade, which also has a unique selection of games perfect for the whole family. Along the strip is also Joywheel Casino, which is an adult casino gaming venue and heading across the road to the upper promenade visitors can enjoy the amusement park attractions and explore the Pavillion Bowl Arcade, which is a large venue built into the side of the cliff. Here, visitors can enter from the upper cliff, explore the venue - which has a full-size bowling alley, amongst many other great facilities and head out of the lower cliff exit via their own exciting amusement arcade. It is at the lower cliff, where Clacton arcade fans will be faced with the Clacton Pier, which is a monster of an entertainment venue. It has theme park rides, bars, food kiosks, a bowling alley, giant kids soft play and of course – Clacton Pier Arcade, which is the largest amusement arcade in Clacton-on-Sea. Tourists can enjoy exploring this venue all day and not see all of it, let alone getting onto the beach.

Clacton Beach features a beautiful sandy shoreline, complemented by scenic parks on the upper cliffs and good access from upper to lower promenades perfect for walkers. With a cycle-friendly layout and easy access to the beach attractions, Clacton offers thrilling entertainment in a compact area right next to the beach - check out amusement arcade and casino gaming listings above to find out more!
