Fun on Pier Ave

Gaiety Amusement Arcade occupies the largest frontage on the Pier Ave strip at the heart of the tourist area on Clacton beach front. With bright yellow frontage and red signage, it’s hard to miss! 

Gaiety is located next door to the Gameshow Arcade and sits opposite the Magic City Arcade and Joywheel. The venue has a casino slots lounge entrance on the far left-hand side, whilst the rest of the arcade is a large open plan family entertainment venue.  

Arcade Extravaganza! 

Upon entering the main arcade, visitors are met with a wide range of different arcade games. There is something for players of all ages here and many of the games pay out wins in the forms of tickets, which can be exchanged at the large prize window kiosk. Here, one can pick from a wide range of different prizes that tickets can be exchanged for. 

Coin Pushers

Gaiety Arcade has a huge range of different coin pushers from modern pushers paying out ticket wins to classic seaside tuppenny falls. These include Sweet Falls, Clockwork Oranges, Rainbow Riches, Space Reels, Caterpillar, Deal or No Deal and Pharaohs Golden Ticket. There are also classic Double Top and Snakes and Ladders coin pushers. The shelf prizes here seem fairly generous and ranged from sweets and lollies to keychains and toys.

Crane Claw Machines

The Gaiety arcade frontage is set back from the pavement, and they have utilised this area to present over fifteen crane claw grabber machines to passers-by. These are spread out along the front and dotted in between these are also young kiddie rides. These claw machines have a great range of branded plush prizes to win including Steven Seagull, Lilo & Stitch and Winnie the Pooh.

Inside the amusements we spotted lots of different claw machines spread around the venue. These included Toy Stack cubes with Prime Energy prizes and mini plush toys to win. There was also a giant seagull that could be won from a skill cut style machine in the corner. There was also mini Toy Box cubes for smaller players to play and win plush prizes. 

Classic arcade games

Gaiety has a nice mix of classic arcade racing machines including a two player Mario Kart DX game and motorbike racing games including Cruise-n-Blast, Bump-n-Smash and Super Bikes 3. 

There are action-packed arcade shooting games including Halo Fireteam Raven and The Walking Dead horror game. Two player games also included a Pac-Man Smash air hockey table and modern/retro Pong table cabinet.

Fairground Games

Gaiety Arcade has a huge range of ticket paying fairground games machines. It appears to be the main focus of this arcade, with a huge range of aiming, shooting and throwing games to play single-player or with friends. Tickets can be won in various way and the more skill players muster, the more tickets they win!

Shooting ticket arcade games include Space Invaders Frenzy, Nerf Arcade and Hotshots Fire Rescue. There is also a Sega Shoot It Win It game where you can win prizes for shooting all the targets on the shelf. 

Throwing fairground games include Down the Clown, Basketball Star (single / multi-player), Coconut Shy and Bean Bag Toss. It’s just like being at a school fete.

Gaiety also caters to the youngest of arcade novices, with a row of smaller throwing games including Funny Monkey, Rainbow Basketball and Fast-Food Frenzy. Perfect for the smallest of hands to enjoy big ticket wins. 

Big arcade machines including Tornado coin stacker, Pearl Fisheries and Ocean Party where large ticket jackpots can be won.  

Ticket Slot Machines

There is a single standalone Adders & Ladders ticket fruit machine with a jackpot of 500 tickets. Though the large selection of fairground style ticket machines certainly made up for this.

£5 Jackpot Fruit Machines

In the family arcade there are many different types of £5 jackpot fruit machines. These were triples including Batman Begins, Austin Powers, Bank Raid and two Rainbow Riches trios, all with upper feature boards.

Standalone fruit machines included Adders and Ladders, Bank Raid, Homers Meltdown and Deal or No Deal Perfect Game. There were also two Skill Ball Zingy machines with £50 jackpots.

Casino Slots Lounge

The adult slot gaming area can be accessed via its own dedicated entrance from Pier Ave, though it also has an entrance from the main amusement arcade. This is a large gaming area with a bustling atmosphere and a wide range of machines. They have the latest £500 jackpot slot machines from Blueprint and Golden Greats with a wide range of the latest games including Bounty Hunter Unchained, Fishin Frenzy Full house and Full Moon Fever.

There is also a nice range of community games including Cops and Robbers and two Rainbow Riches Community Spins machines. Players who enjoy the classics will be happy to know that Gaiety also has a wide range of poker style machines with £100 jackpots and classic mechincal Bar-X machines. There is also a nice selection of 25 pence per play fruit machines with jackpots ranging from £25 all the way to £100.
