Merkur Bingo Hall Lowestoft

The Merkur Bingo Hall in Lowestoft can be found on the Battery Green coast road, which is currently seeing a program of renovation in the same area. A short walk from the pedestrian town centre, the venue used to be called 'Beacon Bingo' and is more like an arena, which is a pleasant surprise for any visitor to explore such a large venue space tucked away to be discovered. 

After a quick weekend sign-up with the receptionist, new visitors receive a membership card on the spot - ready to start enjoying the Bingo hall and casino slots lounge right away.

Slot Machine Area

In the lobby area is the main casino slots lounge and here they have a mixture of classic style and modern casino slot machines. Players can win prizes ranging from £100, £400 all the way to £500 jackpots. Bingo Hall

You can either continue directly through the gaming area or take the separate double doors, which open out into a huge bingo games hall. It is an unexpected marvel and must be a fun experience at peak times with potentially hundreds of people all playing and shouting 'bingo' at once. 

The tables are in sets of four and have dedicated coin slots on each, so players can join in on live games as  action happens! There is also table service here for food and drinks making the experience an incredibly convenient one!

At the front of the venue there is a raised stage box, where the compere calls out the numbers. At the far end there are toilets and a second downstairs casino slots area. This separate area has some older style machines and classic Bar X slot machines. A perfect side area for having breaks between the bingo games if playing in a group. 

On the back wall is the café/restaurant area where Merkur staff serve a wide variety of food and drinks at extremely competitive prices!

This is likely to incentivise patrons to stay longer and have their lunch or evening meal in the venue (and with prices like these - why ever not!).

At each end of the main bingo hall there are wide staircases to get up to the first floor. Here there is an enclosed bar which is also the ‘loud’ area. Smaller than the ground floor, it is nice to be located close to the bar. This accommodates for parties and groups who may be louder than the die-hard bingo players on the ground floor. Next to the bar is the third slots gaming area, which has a range of casino style slot machines to play. 

On each side of the first floor there are also two internal balcony sections that overlook the main bingo hall. Perfect for players who want to have a focused game, but also go in and out of the bar or the smoking area, which is up on the second floor. The smoking area is a large outdoor terrace and is perfect to take a break from the competition on the lower floors. 

Venue Verdict

We were really impressed by the sheer size and layout of this bingo hall. It is well designed to cater for large amounts of people and has a good range of amenities for those who not only love bingo games, but also casino slot machines with the three separate gaming areas.
