We believe Mr G’s is now part of the Jimmy G’s Arcade, located directly opposite on The Promenade. During our visit, half of the venue was closed for refurbishment, and it appears that there was previously Jimmy G’s signage adorning the building. Our review reflects the venue as it was during our visit, listed here as Mr G’s. We plan to return in the coming months to experience any exciting new updates!
Mr G’s Arcade is a large venue with a wide frontage. It also has a separate entrance facing Spinney Green Park, that provides adult players access to the VIP slots area, though this was closed alongside the other works when we attended. The front of the venue is level with the pavement, meaning it is wheelchair-friendly and accessible even for smaller mobility scooters. There is a large undercover foyer area, which gives it an advantage over the other venues on the strip in bad weather as it makes for a perfect place to congregate when the rain starts hammering down. Along the front entrance, a selection of fine kiddie rides can be found, including Go Go Pony, race cars, aeroplanes, helicopters and a lovely mini tea cups ride.
Claw Machines
The frontage also boasts a wide range of claw machines from classic Elaut Giga cranes to modern Crazy Toy claw machines. They also have ‘The Big One’ and Skill Cut, where larger plush prizes can be won and some Monster Drop machines. There are also some modern mini ‘Find a Key’ golden egg cranes as well for those who love a mystery prize.
Coin Pushers
Mr G’s features a great mix of coin pushers, with both modern ticket-paying machines and retro-style classics. They have a large prize shop at the rear for ticket collectors and many great coin shelf prizes, including toys, keychains and sweets. Classic coin pushers include Rainbow Riches and Let’s Twist Again, with modern ticket-paying pushers including Tom & Jerry and Busy Bees.
Children’s Arcade Games
Mr G’s Amusements has a Bug Cruncher, which is a four-player shooter designed for small children. Much like the adult equivalent machines in this range, it also pays out ticket wins to players who hit high scores or shoot bonus targets. There is also a Mr Do Air Balls game, which is similar in size, though instead of a video game on a screen, players have to blow colourful balls into hole targets.
Classic Arcade Games
There are some classic games at this amusement venue, and they include a Sonic Allstars air hockey table, a two-player Tower of Terror two-pence roll down machine and a large arcade dance machine. There is also a two-player Sega Rally 3 arcade racing machine. There is also a boxing punch machine for 'tough-guy' high score chasers.
Fairground Games
Mr G’s Arcade has a large ticket redemption prize shop, meaning they have some great fairground games, though many of these were not accessible when we visited. What we did get to play on was the classic Coconut Bash (shy) ticket arcade game. They also have a Down the Clown for more carnival-style fun. To bolster the prize shop, the amusements also has a fantastic retro-looking change kiosk with original neon tube lights, which is something we love seeing!
Ticket Slot Machines
They have a selection of ticket slots, and these include triple-row Aladdin and Temple of Tickets, where players can win jackpots of up to 500 tickets!
£5 Jackpot Fruit Machines
One of the core strengths of this amusement arcade was the fun range of £5 jackpot fruit machines that were on offer. They had a nice range of standalone machines including, Round the Bend, several Deal or No Deal variants and also some lovely arch-top machines, including Magic &’s from Electrocoin. There was also a Skill Ball Deluxe game where players can win a top prize of £50.

Casino Slots
As mentioned earlier, there is a casino slots area in this venue, though it appeared to be in the rear half of the arcade that was closed off, so it was inaccessible from both the front and the side entrances. We shall update this info upon our return.
Venue Verdict
Some real old school and retro vibes in this amusement arcade and we just love the internal signage on the prize shop and the change kiosk. We are very excited to return to see what the rest of the arcade has on offer and to see any updates or improvements that might be made now that it is a part of Jimmy G’s Arcade opposite. It is 100% worth visiting while in Leysdown.
