Shaws Amusements & Prize Bingo Scarborough

Shaws Amusement Arcade is located in the heart of Scarborough on the busy Newborough, a popular pedestrian route down to the seafront. As the only arcade in the town centre, it offers a fantastic arcade prize bingo setup and a selection of classic fruit and slot machines from different eras.

The venue has an open-plan frontage to entice passers-by and a small ramp making it wheelchair-friendly. Inside, there is a free ATM and drinks vending machine. The front left-hand side of the venue has several dedicated prize bingo stations, perfect for groups to come in and enjoy a game together. There are also large display cabinets on the wall filled with prizes that can be won on the arcade prize bingo.

Coin Pushers

At the front of the venue, there are several classic coin pushers, including Win-a-duck, Clown Around and Coronation Street, all with a selection of shelf prizes. There are also two of the ever-popular Pac-Man Ball hybrid pusher games, giving younger visitors something to enjoy when parents pop in for a quick go on the machines. Two 2p change machines are also located at the front for convenient play.

Aside from that, the rest of this amusement venue takes the form of an old-school high street arcade, which is perfect for fans of nostalgia and British fruit machines.

Fruit Machines

Behind the prize bingo area, visitors can find an arcade change kiosk with staff on hand to assist customers. This section is packed with fun £5 jackpot fruit machines spanning several generations, from modern remakes of classics and retro machines to popular 1990s and early 2000s titles.

The full-size fruit machines include Star Wars, Bank Raid, Deal or No Deal, Clockwork Oranges, Crazy Fruits, Pink Pussy and Frenzy. Comfy stools are provided throughout the venue, making it a comfortable place to settle in for a longer session.

One particularly fun classic is the 2p Unlimited, which plays like a two-way nudger and costs just 2p per spin with a £3 jackpot. A quid in this machine lasts ages!

Slots Lounge

The slots lounge has a wide range of big jackpot machines, from the latest digital terminals by Blueprint Gaming and Vegas Party Slots to rarer old-school cabinets, including a row of retro Admiral Magic Games machines. Venue Verdict

Shaws Amusements delivers the feel of a proper old-school high street arcade, but with a clean, well-maintained interior and a surprisingly broad selection of machines. The prize bingo gives the venue a fun dynamic, adding something different from the usual high street slots lounge, while the impressive selection of fruit machines spans several generations and should appeal to fans of both classic and modern games.

It’s also a particularly easy venue to enjoy as a group, with prize bingo and 2p machines for younger visitors, along with plenty of comfortable seating for those settling in for a longer session. Straightforward, nostalgic and packed with quality games, Shaws is a great example of what a traditional British high street amusement arcade should be and is well worth a visit on the way to or from the seafront when in Scarborough.
