South Pier Amusements can be found on the pedestrianised area just south of Lowestoft town (and station), a short walk over the Bascule Bridge. This area marks the start of the south beaches and promenades, which stretch all the way along to Pakefield.
The arcade itself is part of a complex that also includes The Fisherman's Wharf pub and the Galley fish and chips shop. The fish and chips here are fantastic and competitively priced!
Out the front of the South Pier amusement arcade is also a colourful row of traditional seaside shops offering ice cream, sweets, novelty souvenir rock and hot dogs.
The South Pier Amusements has two main entrances at the front and a smaller exit to the rear. Upon entering the upper level, visitors are greeted with a range of claw crane machines and also a few different types of 2p coin pusher penny falls machines. There are Tom & Jerry, Whacky Races and Sweet Falls machines. Most of the coin pushers have 3 reels to win tickets for prizes, which is always welcome.

They also have a wide range of ticket prize fairground games such as Wild E. Coyote Rocket Wheel Spinner, Connect 4 Basketball and a nice row of 2p roll-down machines all paying winnings in tickets.
Adult Casino Slots Area
This is located on the upper floor and is separate from the main arcade. It does not have walls, though is gated, so doesn’t feel as cosy as it might. In here, there are a range of digital casino slot machines from Blueprint Gaming and also some mechanical pub-style fruit machines and a modern triple Bullion Bar X machine. There is also a retro ‘Find the Lady’ video poker machine in the corner. They also have these Lucky Pairs 2 reel mini fruit machines that fit snuggly in-between the larger cabinets, which are very cute looking.

On the upper floor at the rear are some £5 Jackpot fruit machines including a Lady Luck Moon Struck and also a sit down Gold Rush both triple machines. There are also triple row ticket slot machines dotted around the venue. In the rear section there are also more ticket prize fairground games including basketball arcade games.
At the very back of the upper ground floor next to the rear exit is a kids soft play area for very young / small children to play in.
Lower Level
Heading down to the lower ground floor level, South Pier has a pool table and an air hockey table to the rear. Here is where the prize shop is located and the ticket window displays an excellent range of sweets, toys and branded prizes. Step right up to redeem your tickets for prizes. Staff are on hand here to assist players with exchanging tickets for exciting prizes.
Walking back through the lower level of the arcade, there are some arcade shooting games alongside arcade racing machines and even more coin pushers and ticket arcade games. It appears that there was once a food vendor setup at the front that they are slowly changing back to amusement arcade space.
Venue Verdict
This amusement arcade is great for a quick flutter or place to bring the kids to play whilst having a pint or some fish and chips on the seafront. A great range of arcade machines, prize shop with fun prizes and many other great amenities in the wider venue. Highly recommend visiting when in Lowestoft.
