Bubbles Amusements Arcade Hopton-on-Sea

Bubbles Amusement Arcade is located in Hopton, which is halfway between Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth. Though there is not a public promenade here, there is several holiday villages such as Haven and Potters Resort, so lots of caravans and holiday makers.

This makes Hopton the ideal place for the type of entertainment and attractions one would usually hope to find near the beach or in a seaside town.

Heading toward the holiday parks on Warren Road, Bubbles family amusements is the first venue you will come to on the corner. It is brightly signposted and has a permanent food vendor kiosk outside and also a kiddies bumper car style racetrack. It is situated between Hopton Pharmacy and The Windmill Chinese takeaway.  

Bubbles arcade has a large frontage and there is a nice area with picnic tables served by to the food kiosk. This is a great spot to keep an eye on young kiddies whilst they are riding the dodgems or playing in the arcade.

With wrap-around windows and several entrances, there is also several car-parking spaces at both ends of the venue. Making it ideal for disabled or those with wheelchairs / mobility aids.

Out the front of the venue are also a Pepper Pig and Bob the Builder rides for very young children who perhaps are too young for the bumper cars. 

There is also a one punch boxing machine for all those groups of tough teenagers to flex their muscles. 

Upon entering the arcade is it noticeable that it is very clean and modern. They have a good range of modern machines, and the venue is spacious and well set out. There are many different change machines dotted around the venue and also a dedicated change kiosk close to the casino entrance. 

Coin Pushers

They have a huge range of modern coin pushers, nearly all with tickets for prizes. There are rows and rows of the latest tuppenny falls machines, which is really impressive to see from an establishment not directly on the seafront. 

There are Monopoly, Cops and Robbers, Rock N Reels, Deal or No Deal, Only Fools and Horses, Dracula’s Pots of Tickets, Prize Quest with Golden Egg wins, Sweet Success (8 pushers in-a-row!), Coronation Street, Around the World, Pac-Man, Chupa Chups and The Simpsons Doughtnut Daze branded machines. The shelf winning prizes are also very generous with these including sweets, Pokemon cards, keychains and branded teddies. I even won a £5 note here so it is possible!

Tickets Arcade Games

Not only do nearly all of the coin pushers pay out ticket wins, but there are also many different types of ticketing winning arcade and fairground style machines to play on. They also have several crane claw grabbers with ticket bundles as prizes. They are heavily ticket-oriented and there are also 2 modern ticket eater machines for patrons to easily tally up their ticket totals. 

It should also be noted that Bubbles Arcade has some of the coolest looking 2 tone tickets, which are in keeping with their branding. A refreshing change from the typical yellow tickets one would find on most beachside promenades.

The prize shop window is vast, and they really have a quality range of top prizes here including electricals, toys, gifts, gadgets, rare Pokemon cards and many more options.

Crane Claw Machines

They have lots of different variations on the traditional claw machine with some modern ones including Anime style Happy Games grabbers and also Stack’n’Grab stacker machine games with plushies as prizes. There are smaller claw machines for kiddies that are stocked full of sweets and lollies and also two Win Fall Revolution grabber machines with prizes such as Prime Energy Drink and keychains. Look out for the giant Cool Boy sweet treats machine where 2 or more players can win a range of sweet treat at the same time!

Fairground Games

Bubbles also have a great selection of competitive fairground games where you have to shoot, aim and use skill to win ticket prizes or beat opponents. They have a Fireball Jackpot Bonus, Safari Ranger and a four player Derby Day (camel derby racer style machines). There are 2 Ice-Ball (Skee-ball) machines paying out ticket wins and also a Shark Park aiming game and basketball arcade games. There is also an air hockey table for the competitive siblings.

Ticket Slot Machines

Perfect for adults to spin and win tickets alongside the coin pushing kids! Bubbles has a great range of ticket slot machines where you can win huge ticket jackpots. These include single Manic Mushroom, Pieces of Eight, Adders and Ladders, Freddie (Flintstone style) and also a Temple of Tickets (Indiana Jones style) triple ticket slot machine. 

£5 Jackpot Fruit Machines

There is a small selection of £5 fruit machines in a separate corner of the venue and these include single Bank Raid, Clockwork Orange and a Monopoly (Bell Fruit) machine. There are also some Joker Poker and other retro singles with digital screens. The area is finished off with a Bullion Bars triple with upper feature board.

Casino Slots Area

The adult gaming casino slots section is located through a passage near the change kiosk. There is a modern digital change machine where you can change cash for coins (and vice versa) and also redeem adult cash tickets (much like in a real casino).

The slot machine section has a wide range of modern digital terminals and machines from popular vendors such as Blueprint and Golden Greats. They have jackpots from £25 to £500 with most machines being £100 (with the odd £400 jackpot terminal). 

One can also find a Batman Begins £100 jackpot triple with upper feature board and also a Bullion Bars Arena triple of the same standard. On the way out of the rear exit is a Party Time sit-down triple. 

If you like the older style machines, fear not there are a couple of single £25 jackpot mechanical Big Casino Jackpot (Bar-X style) machines.

Venue Verdict

The quality of machines and prizes here is really remarkable from all types of machines and ticket wins. They have a superb range of coin pushers, and they are all well-stocked with both coin and shelf prizes. The ticket prize window is vast and so to is the selection of achievable prizes. The staff are friendly and attentive, and it was a pleasure to visit. Though it seems like (many establishments) they are phasing out the £5 fruit machines, there is still fun to be had in this section. Next time you are visiting Great Yarmouth, do not hesitate to pop into this fantastic amusement arcade.
