Rock City Amusement Arcade Ingoldmells

Rock City Amusement Arcade sits at the north end of Roman Bank, just a short walk from Ingoldmells’ main tourist area on Sea Lane. Neighbouring O’Grady’s Show Bar and Bells Amusements, this area has its own charm and can get as lively as Sea Lane itself. Formerly known as Funtasia, the arcade has recently undergone a full refurbishment and rebrand, now featuring incredible funfair-style signage.

Alongside the amusements, this venue features a spacious adult gaming area called the Grand Casino, a six-lane Bowlingo alley, and a fully stocked café with plenty of seating. A large prize shop is filled with an array of appealing prizes, while numerous arcade machines are spread throughout the surprisingly extensive venue, with toilets to the rear.

Arcade Entrance

Rock City Amusements occupies a corner position with the left side featuring an outdoor seating area with entrance to the café and the right side having a dedicated entrance to the Grand Casino for adults to use. There are several double door entranceways and rows of grabber claw machines and a boxing punch machine located just outside. The entrance is flat making it accessible and wheelchair-friendly, with wide doors for mobility scooters. 

Children’s Arcade Games

Upon entering, visitors are greeted with a wide range of arcade games and there is a four-player Hungry Hippos game perfect for younger children. There are also several kiddie rides and these include a race car, magic tree Carousel and spinning Waltzer. There are plenty of other arcade games suitable for children here, which we will cover below. 

Claw Machines

Rock City Amusements has no shortage of fun and interesting claw machines. From modern Emoji Prize Box grabbers for both adults and children to classic Elaut and Maxx Grab machines. There is also an Elaut ‘The Big One’ and a large ‘Prize Every Time’ machine for up-to four players. They also have the classic Sweet Land Premia, Candy Crane and a Ticket Dome game. 

With a wide range of quality branded plush prizes available, players can try to win their favourite characters including Minecraft, Lilo & Stitch, Wombats, Highland Cattle, Mario, Snow White and many more. They also have plush prizes available in the prize shop to be redeemed for tickets. 

Coin Pushers

The Rock City Arcade has a great range of coin pushers available to play and these include Jurassic Park, The Mad Scientist, Clockwork Oranges, Push Yer Luck, Piece of Cake, Sweet Falls, Sweet Success, Rainbow Riches, Snakes and Ladders and a Justice League machine. Nearly every coin pusher here pays out tickets and they all have a great range of shelf prizes to be won. 

Fans of modern closed-loop coin pushers can enjoy the Tornado stacker game and several ball pushers including Dynamic Orbs, Emoji Roller, Emoji Party and a three-player Magic Miracle Ball Pusher.

Classic Arcade Games

The Rock City venue has a great range of classic arcade games and these include the two pence roll-down games Temple of Tickets and several arcade shooting games including Shoot It, Win It by Sega, Jurassic Park, Terminator Salvation, Zombie Outbreak and a classic Block Stacker by LAI Games. There are also two pool tables and a Skate air hockey table.

Arcade racing machine fans will enjoy facing off against friends playing Fast & Furious Tokyo Drift, Dead Heat by Namco, Ultra Moto VR and Bigfoot Mayhem.

Fairground Games

With the huge range of great prizes available at the prize shop it’s no wonder that Rock City has a great range of ticket-paying fairground games. Patrons can find classics such as Down the Clown and Crazy Hoops basketball arcade games. They also have a four-player Derby Day camel derby-style game and Lane Master bowling. There is also Slam-a-Winner, which is a monster-drop type game and the giant Connect Four Hoops, which is great to play with friends. 

Wheel Spinners

VR Arcade Games

Rock City Amusements has a large triple screen Fast Lane Racing Simulator called Crazy Racing. This puts the driver in control of a truly immersive VR experience with all the moving and rumblings of a real racing car. 

Ticket Slot Machines

There are several different types of ticket slot machines dotted around the venue and these range from standalone machines such as Adders and Ladders to triple-row Temple of Tickets game to quad sit-down Ticket Raider and Count Dracula both with upper feature boards. 

£5 Jackpot Fruit Machines

There are several £5 jackpot fruit machines dotted around and these include Revolution from Barcrest and arch-top Bear X and Crazy Fruits. There are also several quad-row sit-down machines including Adders and Ladders with the upper boardgame from Vivid and Party Time Arena. Keen eyes will also spot several Skill Ball Zingy machines dotted about the venue. 

Slot Machines

The slots lounge here is called the Grand Casino and it is as big as some standalone high street venues. As mentioned earlier, it has its own entrance from the Roman Bank and also a large entrance from the arcade itself. There is an ATM cash machine and change machine outside this entrance, ready for those about to have a punt. Venue Verdict

The Rock City Amusement Arcade is impressive not only due to its incredible signage but also because it has a huge range of different games to suit different gaming styles and tastes. There is something for the smallest of children, teens, families and even grandparents. With a fully stocked seaside café, this really does feel like the perfect place to spend a day out of a holiday. Do not visit Ingoldmells without checking out the Roman Bank area arcades.
