The Plaza Amusement arcade on Grand Parade is one of the largest amusement arcade venues in the Skegness tourist area. The venue boasts a large selection of amenities and attractions that go far beyond most regular seaside arcades.
Plaza is connected to the equally large Empire amusement arcade next door via the ‘Carnival Street’ gaming area that boasts an impressive range of larger arcade machines ideal for younger children.
Arcade Entrance
Plaza Arcade is separated into 4 main areas. Front left is the adult gaming section, rear left is the mini bowling lanes and café with seating and pool tables. At the rear-right area of the venue is the prize shop and ticket windows. Front-right is a bumper car Orbiters track, where patrons can enjoy indoor dodgems.
With an extensive frontage and several different openings, it is evident that the front of the arcade is packed full of young kiddie rides of all shapes and sizes. These then mix into various types of other arcade games and prize-winning machines.
On the left-hand side of the frontage is a separate street entrance for the adult casino slots lounge. This is called the ‘Plaza Casino’ and is clearly demarked and separate from the rest of the arcade.
Plaza Casino Slots Lounge
In the Plaza Casino, players can find a great range of different digital slot machines from a range of terminal providers such as Blueprint Gaming, Eclipse and Golden Greats. Top prizes are available from £25 and go up to £500 jackpots with many machines having £100 jackpots.
Both Luck of the Irish and King Kong Cash casino slots were available here with community link. There were also community variants of Fruitinator, Eye of Horus and Fishin Frenzy The Big Catch.

They also have a good balance of more traditional mechanical slot machines with some Bar X style cabinets including Jokers and Random Gold and the modern looking Reel of Fortune.
Heading out of the rear entrance into the main arcade area visitors are met with an expansive range of different machines. The left door opens into Carnival Street or arcade explorers can continue deeper into this huge arcade, navigating through a great range of classic and modern arcade machines.
£5 Jackpot Fruit Machines
The £5 jackpot fruit machines are dotted around the section nearest the casino slots lounge and there are many different types including individual cabinets such as Monopoly, Crazy Fruits, Around the Clock, Cops and Robbers, Pots of Gold, Monopoly Hot Property, Batman Gotham City, Rainbow Riches and Pink Panther.

Alongside the mini bowling is a café serving food and hot drinks with some seating and tables laid out across the shared raised section. There is also a selection of Skill Ball machines in this section which include Pac-Man, Zingy and classic Skill Ball.

A special mention for the hybrid modern coin pushers Avengers Super Bonus 3000 and Ticket Circus, where players use timing skill to win tickets with stacks of coins.

Crane Claw Machines
There are many claw machines dotted around the venue and patrons can find a cluster at the front of the venue near the Orbiters. Here, they have a giant machine called ‘The Big One’ where players can win giant Disney plush toys. There are also some regular sized Elaut grabbers in this area, where favourites such as Winnie the Pooh and Lilo & Stitch can be won. There are also Win Fall Revolution machines with lovely key chain prizes and also a Maxx Grab crane machine, where players can win huge bundles of tickets.

Fans of the classics will be happy to know that there are several air hockey tables in this amusements including Pac Man Smash and Air FX. Arcade explorers with a keen eye will also notice a Deal or No Deal Deluxe quiz machine that also pays out tickets.
Aside from the two player Mario Kart DX racing game, there did not seem to be many other arcade racing machines here, though Plaza makes up for this with a nice range of classic fruit machines and also young kiddie rides (which they have a great selection of near the entrance). At the front entrance is also a lovely red London bus ride, which is perfect for small children.

There is no shortage of ticket fairground games in this entertainment complex and contenders can spot fan favourites such as Sonic Allstars basketball, Coconut Shy, Sink It, Milk Jug Toss, Down the Clown and Pixel Chase all paying ticket wins.

Funfair fans will love the Fishbowl Frenzy arcade game, a modern take on the classic sideshow where players aim balls into glass jars to win prizes. While the concept remains the same, today's version challenges players to time shots perfectly on a digital display to land balls in jars for ticket wins.

Venue Verdict
Plaza Amusement Arcade is very large and with the two interconnected arcades it becomes a giant entertainment complex. They have refreshments and seating across all venues for good reason. Visitors could spend a full day of fun playing in the Plaza arcade and not even discover all of the fun attractions available.
With a great range of machines for every age group, work together on winning tickets or compete with family on large modern fairground rides and games. A fantastic venue to spend a full day (or week) come rain or shine.
