Centrally located in the heart of the Skegness tourist area, with a boardwalk that stretches to the sea, the Skegness Pier is a fun entertainment complex with a wide range of activities on offer for all of the family. These include a climbing wall, tenpin bowling alley, escape rooms and a large kid’s soft play area with adjoining café. There are also several other cafes and food kiosks throughout the venue and a large bar and seating area at the rear called ‘Playa at the Pier’, which is also served by several outdoor food kiosks.
Arcade Entrance
The main entrance faces Grand Parade at the junction of Scarborough Avenue and the ornate Three Monkeys Pub building. With the Skegness Pier having upper and lower levels, there are several other side entrances along its length and across the beachside promenade.
Skegness Pier Front Area
Upon entering the main entrance, visitors are met with a large amusement arcade area with climbing wall on one side and the adult casino slots lounge on the other. The front foyer is at ground level, which then rises to the upper amusement arcade that overlooks the casino slots and climbing area. This front area is home to a wide range of different arcade games (at both levels) and this theme continues all the way to the end of the pier. There is also a laser tag arena for friends and families to enjoy.
Café & Kids Soft Play
Leaving the front section of the Skegness Pier, patrons will find a second large auditorium with the Coffee Lounge that has a large amount of seating and also a balcony area with additional seating. The café is joined onto the kid’s soft play area which occupies a huge space in the middle section of the pier. This is a perfect place for parents to unwind, whilst youngers expend energy in the play area.
In the central section, visitors can find the internal entrance to the ten-pin bowling alley, accessible via a staircase. For added convenience, there are also several ground-floor entrances located along Scarborough Esplanade.
There is a wide range of arcade machines throughout this area including an air hockey table, coin pushers and some kids-size fairground ticket arcade games. The café opens up into the large kids soft play area, which has a funky central walk way that the kids can climb over. There is also a lovely row of rainbow coloured claw machines in this section to admire.
The walk-way then opens up into another large gaming area, which has an even more impressive selection of larger arcade machines including a Tom & Jerry Kitchen Chaos air hockey table, a row of Pearl Fishery ball pushers and a boxing punch machine. On the opposite wall is the central prize shop with floor to ceiling windows of the latest and greatest prizes which can be exchanged for tickets won throughout the Skegness Pier Arcade.

Rear Arcade Area
Heading into the rear section of the pier this area narrows and turns into a very long walkway filled with a huge range of different arcade machine and games. With more food and drinks kiosks halfway down, this section is mostly dedicated to larger ticket prize machines, which mix into a coin pusher area at rear end of the pier. The rear entrance takes visitors to Playa (at the pier) the outer seating area with family friendly bar, that has it's own great range of food and drinks kiosks and seating options.
With the Skegness Pier being so long and split into sections, we have provided a run-down of some of the available arcade machines below so that budding arcade explorers can discover classic and brand new games to play.
Coin Pushers
The Skegness Pier Arcade boasts a fantastic range of coin pushers throughout the length of the entire pier. There are exciting coin pusher games at the front of the venue, stretching all the way to 'Playa at the Pier'.
In the front section, players can find examples of modern coin pushers including Rainbow Riches, Pac-Man, Snakes & Ladders and Prize Quest (which offers gold egg 'Find a Key' prizes). Patrons can also enjoy Space Invaders in the lower ground section and Sweet Dreams, which both pay out tickets and have upper feature boards.
In the middle section we spotted Space Invaders, Snakes and Ladders and a large ten player classic rectangle coin pusher. Close to the prize shop is also a circular Minions Paradise game, which is adorned in tiki style islander artwork, making it a lovely example.

The rear of the Skegness Pier venue is open plan with large glass windows and doors and it is here where the final cluster of coin pushers is located. This section features an impressive selection of ticket prize coin pushers, including both circular and rectangular machines. With four and eight-player machines available, players can enjoy the excitement of winning tickets alongside family and friends.
Players can enjoy Minions, Ice Cream, Justice League, Rock ‘n’ Reels, Snakes and Ladders and Jurassic Park pushers all with a great range of shelf prizes to be won. The Justice League and Jurassic Park pushers also have a wheel spinner feature, where players can win big ticket prizes.
Further examples include Chip ’n’ Win casino-themed coin pusher, Deal or No Deal and an interesting machine called Zombie Treasure Chest, which has an interesting upper feature board.
With so many great coin pushers in this venue alone, it is easy to spend hours playing here and lose track of time, so keep an eye on the clock!
Crane Claw Machines
Much like the coin pushers, there is no shortage of brilliant crane claw machines in the Skegness Pier Arcade and keen eyes can spot these dotted around throughout the venue.
In the front section there is a nice range of E-Claw machines, with a great range of branded plushie prizes including Deadpool, Lilo & Stitch and Minions toys. There is also a row of Win Fall Revolution machines with great branded keychain toys to be won!
For those who prefer a mystery prize, check out the ‘Find a key’ gold egg machines, where players have to find a key inside the eggs to open one of the prize doors to win the prize, exciting stuff!
In the kid’s soft play area walkway, visitors can find a long row of E-Claw grabbers with some great push toys prizes to be won. Players can win branded plushies including Steven the Seagull, Minions, Lion King, Hello Kitty and Mario characters.
Players who explore the rear section of the Skegness Pier will also be rewarded by many fine examples of crane claw machines including E-Claw, Maxx Grab and Win Fall Revolutions. There are Toy Stack machines for smaller players to win mini plush prizes and also a giant ‘The Big One’, where players can win giant sized plush footballs that have mystery ticket wins on them, to be exchanged at the ticket prize kiosk.
Classic Arcade Games
Arcade explorers can find some exciting classic arcade games at Skegness Pier amusements, and these include several air hockey tables and also a Raging Ape electric chair arcade game, which is an absolute classic not seen much these days.
In the front section is also an interesting mini arcade shooting gallery called Professor Goggins, which is a four-player shooting gallery. This is a traditional type of game commonly found at British seaside resorts. They also have a similar shooting gallery arcade in the rear section called Hill Billys. There are also several two-player arcade racing games including Cruise-n-Blast, Moto GP and Sega Rally. Energetic players will also love the two-player dance machine.
Near the Coffee Lounge is also a classic Sweet Land Premia, where for just 30 pence, players can try their hand at winning a selection of popular sweets and chocolate.
The rear section of the pier has a great range of classic arcade machines including Crazy Typhoon, which is an early ticket machine where players have to time the throwing of either a two or ten pence coin down a shoot and have it land on the moving platform to win a big-ticket prize. There are also Walking Dead and Jurassic Park arcade shooting games.
Next to the rear ‘Playa at the Pier’ entrance is a fantastic example of a beautiful young kiddie ride. This is a two-player horse riding / galloping machine by Ital-Resina (made in Italy). Although these rides are only suitable for small children, the detail of the artwork can certainly be appreciated by any arcade enthusiast.
Fairground Games
Quite possibly the strongest category of arcade games at the Skegness Pier Arcade, they have a huge range of fairground style machines. Our definition here is any type of classic game that could have been played or experience at the Funfair / Fair Ground / Amusement Park or Summer Fete.
In modern times, ticket redemption machines have taken the place of these types of carnival / fairground games and we want to preserve the fun and keep them alive by highlighting the best examples.
At the front of the Skegness Pier, patrons can enjoy some fine examples including Lane Master Xtreme, which is a skee ball style game, where players have to bowl at virtual targets. There are also some aiming / throwing machines in the corner, namely Down the Clown and Milk Jug Toss, which both pay out ticket wins to players with good accuracy. For players that prefer shooting, check out the Wild West Shootout and Commando Sniper.
In the middle section near the prize shop is a large four player Derby Day ticket arcade machine. This is a modern equivalent to the traditional fairground camel derby game, which can be found at seaside resorts across the UK. In fact, there used to be a large camel derby game with compere in this very area of the pier arcade and this machine has been added here as a nod to the glorious camel derby that was once a seaside staple here. Nowadays, players can enjoy the game with four players and win tickets to be exchanged at the prize shop counter.
In the rear area of Skegness Pier Arcade is even more fairground style machines, including a lovely row of 2p roll-down machines. These are Ticket (tomb) Raider, Cops & Robbers and Tom & Jerry all with upper feature boards. This section features Ice Ball skee-ball arcade games alongside Jet Ball Alley, another skee-ball-style machine that rewards players with ticket wins. There are also several other throwing games including Axe Heroes, Down the Clown and Shark Park.
Big Ticket Arcade Machines
Skegness Pier entertainment venue has a great range of different large ticket arcade games throughout. In the front section, fans of Marvel will love the Spiderman Super Bonus coin stacker game, where players can win huge ticket prizes.
Keen eyes will spot the large Connect 4 Hoops basketball arcade game in the middle section which is next door to the Kung Fu Panda Dojo Mojo game. At the rear of the pier venue, players can enjoy Pixel Chase, Firewall, Piano Keys and Genie’s Jewel.
Wheel Spinner Arcade Games
There are lots of ways to 'spin-a-ticket-win' in this pier arcade and players will just love the action and fun playing on Treasure Quest, Crank It, Big Bass Wheel or the Magicians Wheel. There is also a Wheel of Fortune wheel spinner game, which provides a thrilling experience in the form of the popular TV show.
Ticket Slot Machines
There are several Crazy Chicken ticket slot machines dotted around the venue and the good thing about these standalone machines is that players can win huge jackpots of up to 1600 tickets. With such a great range of prizes in the ticket prize shop, it will be hard to decide on which prizes to redeem and enjoy.
Casino Slots Lounge
The 'Pier Casino' is the name of the adult slots lounge within the Skegness Pier and this can be found at the very front of the venue in the lower ground section close to the main entrance.
There are no £5 jackpot fruit machines here, though they do have some mechanical fruit machines with £100 jackpots that we noted. There is a huge range of digital terminals including Blueprint and Prismatic machines with the latest and greatest games to play. Top prizes range from £25 all the way up to £500 jackpots with many of the gaming machines having £100 jackpots. There is comfy seating in this area and dedicated staff on hand to assist players with any needs they might have.
Venue Verdict
Skegness Pier Arcade is a fantastic entertainment venue with a wide range of amenities suitable for the whole family. Patrons can spend hours exploring all the different machines and games on offer or they can opt for one of the other fantastic amenities including tenpin bowling, climbing and the huge kids soft play area. With many different food and drink options and the Playa bar at the end of the pier, this really is a great place to base the family for a day. An absolute must for visitors of Skegness.
