Lucky Strike Arcade in Hemsby is one of three local amusement arcades that are located on Newport Road, which is a short walk away from the main Hemsby tourist area on Beach Road. This area is actually classed as 'Newport' though many refer to it as Hemsby collectively. There are many adjacent caravan sites on Newport Road and although it appears quieter than the 'Hemsby-side' Beach Road, there is still a great range of amenities, shops and food options on Newport Road. So do not miss out on this gem. 

The Lucky Strike Arcade is a detached building without any immediate neighbours, and it has parking out front and round to the side. In the next row of shops is T.I’s Bar and Grill, which offers sit-in and takeaway food and drink so there are plenty of options close by. Next door is also another amusement arcade called the Treasure Island Arcade, which is also worth exploring. 

Arcade Excitement

The venue itself is cosy and has a clean and spotless feel to the front area. Its floor-to-ceiling windows open wide on hot days for a refreshing breeze and just ajar on colder days, ensuring a comfortable experience year-round.

Out the front of the amusements is a nice area with a range of young kiddie rides including Budgie the little Helicopter, Bob the Builder and a Yellow Taxi. They also have some tiny crane claw machines for little ones to play and also some bouncy ball and tattoo dispensers. 

The main gaming room is rectangle in shape, and it has a casino slots lounge to the rear left-hand room and a larger dedicated prize bingo room in the rear left-hand room.

Coin Pushers

Coin Pushers of all shapes and sizes are available to play in the main room and most of these offer tickets for prizes as well as great shelf prizes too. 

Many of the circular coin pushes are the modern style with upper ticket feature board when you can activate the board with well-times plays of the 2 pence piece. These include Haunted House and Let’s Go! Bingo, which are great fun for winning coins, shelf prizes and ticket wins. 

They also have a couple of Jurassic Park and Justice League coin pushers with ticket wins. The shelf prizes here are very generous and they have licenced toys, ornaments and key chains to win including Toy Story 4, Pokémon and Mario prizes. They also have a Pac Man Ball machine with feature board. 

Fairground Games

To the right-hand side of the venue is a range of ticket paying fairground games. There is a good assortment of aiming games including Shark Park, two Pearl Fishery games and also a modern Snakes & Ladders roll-down style machine. 

Crane Claw Machines

There is an abundance of great plushies and teddy prizes not only hanging from the ceiling, but also inside a selection of different modern crane claw grabbers to win instantly. They have Mini Baby Grabber machines for the smallest of children to play and also Maxx Grab machines for bigger hands, where you can win Lilo & Stitch and other Disney plush toys. 

Ticket Slot Machines

Next to the fairground machines on the right-hand side is a triple Dracula ticket slot machine. There are also standalone machines where you can win 500 tickets jackpot! These include Freddie (Flintstone) and Pieces of Eight. This may seem like a small selection, though having all the modern coin pushers with feature boards certainly makes up for it!

£5 Jackpot Fruit Machines

On the left-hand side of the venue is a Clockwork Orange triple row with upper feature board. They also have a couple of other standalone £5 jackpot fruit machines including an original Barcrest Rainbow Riches fruit machine. 

Casino Slot Machines

The adult casino slots area is in the rear left-hand area and has a good selection of classic machines. They have slots ranging from £25 all the way up to £500 jackpots, with most being £100 jackpot machines. This is a great local casino near to all the action.

Venue Verdict

Even though the Lucky Strike Arcade in Newport is a smaller venue, it certainly makes up for it with the quality of the machines. The well-designed floorplan boasts a great balance of modern coin pushers and fairground style ticket machines. There is also exciting ticket slots and fruit machines. The adult section has all the options a seasoned gamer could want and the arcade prize bingo ties it all together with a wider range of prizes than a regular ticket arcade. A great venue for all the family.
