Crystal Palace occupies a central position on Newport Road with the Newport Club and Caravan Park on one side and a row of shops, including a fish and chips shop on the other. Although primarily serving the caravan park trade, they welcome all visitors and there is plenty of parking options out front. 

We have a sneaky suspicion that the owner of this arcade venue may in fact be a Crystal Palace football club fan with the red, white and blue colour scheme of the front signage. If one looks up at the signage above the door there is some vintage amusement arcade signs, which are enjoyable for seaside historians.

At the front of the building are a set of large bifold doors giving entry to the amusements. On the front forecourt are a range of young kiddies rides including Bob the Builder and a little green bus and red train.

Arcade Entrance

Upon entry one can find a sizable open plan venue with high ceilings. There are large ticket and crane machines at the front, coin pushers in the middle and slots at the side and rear. At the very back is another entrance which opens directly onto the Newport Caravan Park. In the rear are a range of arcade games and also the prize shop / ticket window. There is a large range of prizes available on display for players with winning tickets.

Coin Pushers

In the middle of the arcade are a great range of modern ticket paying coin pushers. There are rectangle and circular options including Lady Bug, Busy Bees, Deal or No Deal, Sweet Falls, Monopoly and Scooby Doo. 

They also have some retro flippers on the side wall including a 'Cromptons Flippa Spinna'. On offer is a great range of shelf prizes including ticket reels, rubber duckies and sweets and lollies. Tuppenny falls coin wins are easily achievable for even the smallest of players. 

Classic Arcade Games

In the rear of the arcade near the caravan park entrance is a Fast and the Furious arcade racing machine, where players can race against friends or siblings. Next to this is a Dance Dance Revolution X two-player dance machine. There is also a retro Pac-Mac arcade in a vintage style cabinet with Joysticks. There is also a Flappy Bird machine, which has become a classic in recent years, due to it’s creator pulling it from major platforms.

Fairground Games

Dotted around the outside of the amusements venue is a wide range of larger fairground style ticket arcade machines. These require an element of real skill and test the marksmanship of players in a fun way.

On the left-hand wall is a row of skee-ball and Bowling machines, Cool Drops and Pearl Fishery. At the rear there is also a Crank It! wheel spinner machine and a modern Pac-Man Chomp Mania, where you can win 1000 tickets just by playing Pac-Man! 

Crane Claw Machines

Lining the right-hand-side of the venue is a range of different crane claw machines. There are grabbers all over the venue and they range from traditional claw machines with plush toys and teddy wins to modern machines where you can win high-end electricals. 

These include Lighthouse which is a seaside themed block-stacker game. Deal or No Deal where you can gamble mysterious box wins and also Rocket-Launch and Wizard of Oz. 

Ticket Slot Machines

Crystal Palace has a good range of ticket slot machines with jackpots up to 500 tickets! They are mostly situated near the change kiosk and include Temple of Tickets and Count Dracula triples. There are also a range of standalone ticket slots including Aladdin, Pieces of Eight, Tickety Boo and Freddie (Flintstone).

£5 Jackpot Fruit Machines

The arcade has a small range of £5 jackpot fruit machines. These include a Party Time sit-down quad and Golden Game / Golden Spinner triples. There is also a Skill Ball Deluxe machines with £50 jackpot.

The adult slot machine area can be found on the right-hand side of the venue and is split into 2 rooms. The 1st room has a Luck o’ the Irish triple with £100 jackpot and a range of chrome cabinet machines. The second room is large and has an upmarket décor. Venue Verdict

Crystal Palace is a great venue with a wide range of interesting machines. They have all bases covered and have a nice mix between the latest modern machines and arcade classic. Whilst serving the busy caravan parks in the summer, they venue also has ample parking and is easy-to-find so that locals and enthusiasts can visit at all times of the year (check low season opening times).
