Gold Rush Amusement Arcade Great Yarmouth

Gold Rush Amusements is one of the oldest and most established amusements venues on Great Yarmouth's golden mile. Although its name and layout has changed over the years the building has been part of Great Yarmouth’s rich heritage since the early days of the seaside holiday. 

Located directly opposite to the Marina Centre, this arcade venue is one of the largest in Great Yarmouth and has a wealth of different types of arcade attractions for all ages. 

With large open-plan entranceways the amusements is welcoming and enticing to all passers-by. There is a disabled access ramp on the left elevation, which provides access to the main arena (there are some steps at the other entry points). 

Dotted along the outside are a range of different crane claw grabber machines where players can win some awesome plush toy prizes. There is also a boxing punch machine at £1 per go. 

Arcade Access

Entering from the left-hand entrance, patrons will notice the historic ‘amusements’ signage, which is flanked by 2 golden goddess statues. This area of the venue is large, open plan and stretches far back in a kind of u-shape layout.

In the front section of the arcade there is a range of arcade racing machines, arcade shoot-em-ups and coin pushers paying out ticket prizes and larger fairground style ticket arcade games. There is also a classic dance machine and an air hockey table. 

Some of the tuppenny coin pushers in this section do not offer ticket prizes so if you plan to collect tickets, choose your machines wisely!

At the rear of the main arcade, there is a range of triple ticket slot machines. These include Cops & Robbers and Freddies Vacation. 

In the central section is the prize shop / ticket window. There is a huge range of different prizes available here and they have several different cabinets full of great prizes including electricals, models and toys. 

At the other side of the u-shaped venue, visitors will notice that it is split with half being the casino slots gaming area and the other half being a more family orientated section. 

Casino Gaming Area

The adult gaming area is a decent size and has a great range of different gaming machines here. There are £100, £400, £500 jackpot slots from BluePrint, VIP Lounge and other modern digital game providers here. There is also a whole section dedicated to classic £25 jackpot fruit machines, including Deal or No deal and many more. This section is separate from the main arcade and is not as busy as no children are allowed here. 

Heading back out of the adult gaming lounge, players are greeted with a range of large modern tickets paying fairground games and also a some more ticket slot machines. There are also some fun £5 Jackpot Fruit Machines located in this area as well as some large walk-in arcade shooting games. 

In the final front section on the right-hand elevation, you have some more coin pushers and a large sit-down Snakes and Ladders quad fruit machine. 

There is also a (two pence per play) tuppenny each-way nudger, which is a welcome classic and many more crane claw grabber machines. 

Venue Verdict

Gold Rush Arcade provides a nice, well-balanced collection of games machines with a huge range of prizes to be won from the prize shop at the back of the arcade. The balance between family-orientated gaming and adult machines is welcoming and the atmosphere is enjoyable.  A walk along Great Yarmouth's Marine Parade would not be complete without exploring the Gold Rush amusements venue and it comes highly recommended.
