Joyland is a children's fun park located next to the Britannia Pier on the Great Yarmouth seafront. It is designed for younger children with lots of easy-going rides and safe attractions for parents to accompany novice and first-time fun seekers.
It has been an iconic beacon of fun since the 1940’s, with many generations telling tales of the fun they shared with their parents and grandparents, passing through the generations. If you haven't been on the snails then who even are you?
Admission is free and anyone can walk through the ride area free of charge, which will take patrons on a fun tour of everything Joyland has to offer and lead out to the rear beach exit. The amusement arcade location is at the rear of the wider complex.
Young Kiddie Rides Jackpot
As one would expect with the fun park being geared toward younger children, the same can be said for the amusement arcade.
The arcade has 2 entrances and outside both are a great selection of young kiddie rides such as Minions, Budgie the little helicopter, Bob the Builder and even a vintage Sooty & Sweep campervan.
The amusements itself is not the largest on the seafront, though has been perfectly arranged for younger children to experiment and enjoy fun in a safe environment.
Coin Pushers
One will find a mix of modern coin pushers that pay out prizes in the form of redeemable tickets that can be exchanged at the prize window (including a circular Crazy Fruit machine).
They also have older retro coin pushers, which include a ‘Pot of Gold’ a Harry Potter style gaming machine and also single Morris the Miner coin pusher. Both a nostalgic pleasure to see.
Some of the smaller circular coin pushers actually have one penny pushers! Perhaps the only one pence denomination available on the whole of the Great Yarmouth seafront (not including the Merrivale Penny Arcade).
Along the wall are also Minions coin flipper style pushers, next to a Lucky Ducky roll-down machine, both paying ticket wins.
Ticket Arcade Games
There are a range of different fairground arcade games that pay out tickets. These include Fireball and other skee ball machines and basketball arcade games. There is also a Big Win Super Spin wheel spinner ticket machine near the change kiosk.
Along the walls are a range of crane claw grabber machines with plush toys and teddies to be won. If you are into retro arcade machines then there is a Sega Rally two-player machine in the corner.
No Casino Slots Area
With Joyland being geared toward young children, there is no casino slot machines section.
Though if patrons are looking for these types of machines then there are a few standalone ticket slot machines dotted around, offering big jackpot ticket wins that can be lovingly passed on to the kids to make better prizes to redeem.
Venue Verdict
This is a fantastic little children's arcade geared toward children. Ideal for a change of pace after going on the Snails or Neptunes Kingdom. Or perfect to simply explore as part as your walk along the Great Yarmouth coast path that runs right by the entrance. What’s missing in terms of casino and fruit machines is certainly made up for in kids games and nostalgia.
