Wellington Pier is an historic landmark in Great Yarmouth that offers visitors a charming blend of classic seaside fun and modern arcade entertainment. Wellington Pier Amusement Arcade is located beachside on the Great Yarmouth Golden Mile opposite the Grosvenor Casino and comprises two large separate buildings and a range of smaller food and souvenir kiosks at the front.
Nestled between the soon-to-be-renovated Winter Gardens and the Merrivale Model Village, the pier itself doesn’t stretch far into the sea. Dating back to the 1850s, it likely had a longer boardwalk in its heyday, but today its charm lies in the expansive indoor spaces located beachside.
The Great Yarmouth seafront path goes directly under the terrace that connects both pier buildings. This path stretches across the entire length of the seaside. Wellington Pier Arcade is the largest single amusement arcade in Great Yarmouth with over 200 machines and various other attractions.
As a frequent entry on the 'UK's best amusement arcade' lists, the Wellington Pier Amusements occupies a spacious open plan building with high ceilings giving it a nice airy atmosphere. Split across two buildings, the front entrance is flanked by food kiosks, where visitors can find ice cream, drinks and milkshake on the left and souvenirs and beach equipment to the right. There is also a fish and chips vendor with seating next door.
Arcade Exploring
Stepping inside the front of the venue, visitors are greeted with a great range of arcade machines including coin pushers with tickets prizes and crane claw machines. At the front-right area of the building there is a selection of young kiddie rides for toddlers and small children.
Further into the arcade patrons will discover classic and modern types of coin pushers including this eye-catching Monopoly game with winning tickets and various shelf prizes. There are also four Zingy Skill Ball machines near the front with £50 jackpots available.
Dotted about the front section of the amusement arcade are some very large modern ticket arcade games such as a Marvel coin stacker and a giant Connect Four basketball arcade game. There is also a large Space Invaders Frenzy machine and the latest virtual reality racing simulator - there really has been no expense spared in the name of fun at this abundant gaming venue!
Casino Slots Lounge
There is an expansive adult casino slots lounge that occupies the right side of the venue. It is split up into four subsections with an array of different casino slots from Blueprint Gaming, Golden Greats a range of Electrocoin Bar X machines. There are two large Rainbow Riches triple row machines and a Cops and Robbers community spins game. Across the casino slots lounge there are top prizes available of £25, £100, £400 and even £500 jackpots from a range of different game types.
The slot machine area has two entrance / exits and there is also a casino refreshments area with staff usually on hand. They also have a tablet menu system for serious players who want to order food. There are many comfy casino chairs and modern ticket redemption change machines and an ATM cash machine.
Central Change Kiosk
Stepping back outside of the casino slots lounge, there is a large central change kiosk in the middle of the arcade. Here players can speak with staff and request change for coins and notes. There are also several different types of change machines in this area if the change kiosk is busy.
In the middle section of the Wellington Arcade there are some £5 Jackpot fruit machines dotted around. These include a Snakes & Ladders triple, Pink Panther, Lady Luck Around the Clock and a Chase the Ace video poker machine. There is also an air hockey table here for £1 per play.
On the opposite side of the Wellington Pier is a large customer toilets, which is very handy as most of the other Great Yarmouth amusement arcades do not have toilet facilities.
Arcade Rear Area
At the back of the pier amusements there is a coin-operated six-lane mini bowling alley. This is in addition to the tenpin bowling in the second building. The bowlingo alley does not need special shoes, balls or equipment and can children can play at their leisure. Perfect for beginners or those looking to enjoy a relaxed pastime with friends.
Fairground Games
Opposite the mini bowling area to the rear is the prize shop and a wide range of larger fairground games and ticket arcade machines. These include a range of arcade fairground and sports games such as basketball arcade games, wheel spinners and skee-ball machines that pay out tickets. There is also a large high striker and other unique funfair style machines.
On the back wall are the prize display windows, where players can peruse a huge range of exciting prizes that are available to exchange for tickets. Form an orderly queue here to exchange tickets for prizes, souvenirs, gifts or sweets!
Wellington Bowl
Stepping out of the back of the Wellington Pier Amusement Arcade leads to a lovely beach deck area where there is lots of outdoor seating for enjoying the views.
Directly opposite is the Wellington Bowl building, where there is a full-size ten lane ten pin bowling alley, licenced bar with coffee and food options served all day. Patrons can take drinks out onto the terrace to relax and enjoy the views with family.
There are also many more arcade machines here for children and adults including claw crane grabber machines, £5 jackpot fruit machines and even casino slot machines in the bar. There is also a large dedicated area with seven American-style pool tables.

Wellington Pier Arcade offers endless fun for all visitors, with a huge selection of arcade games and attractions under one roof.
